Sometimes her father makes dishes, other French people do not know. Neighbors find him a little original, and they dislike the smell of mutton from their garden. Dad often invite people who he does not know because he talks with everyone. At home there are many books. Her father gave her a book of Russian fairy tales in French. He tells her about his childhood in the Caucasus, where it is very cold.
In 1938, the parents are worried because of Hitler, and therefore make themselves many questions about their situation. When the Germans came, they decide to flee in their car, but they returned to Rouen after the ceasefire. They have problems with food and money, but the grandparents can help them.
After the liberation people ask her father why he won’t get a citizenship. He explains to them that he does not feel French. But after some time he decides to become a Frenchman, because he knows that he will never return to Armenia. He seems well integrated into society, but he has retained his Russian accent, and it is easier for him to identify with the region than with a nation.

Après la libération des gens demander à son père pourquoi il n’aura pas la citoyenneté. Il leur explique qu’il ne se sent pas français. Mais après quelque temps, il décide de devenir un Français, parce qu’il sait qu’il ne reviendra jamais à l’Arménie. Il semble bien intégrée dans la société, mais il a conservé son accent russe, et il est plus facile pour lui de s’identifier à la région que d’une nation.
There may be mistakes in the english asweel but it’s because I originally had to translate it from Danish to French, but since most of you here doesn’t speak Danish I translated the Danish to English so you would understand it.
